Have you ever lost focus for a spilt second and the result was an unforeseen consequence, major injury, or damaged relationship?
Well, yesterday I was at the gym in the middle of a chest workout when looked away for a split second and in that moment a 75 lb. dumbbell landed on my left foot, probably breaking a small bone in my foot. Stinks right?
As painful as this is going to be for the next couple of weeks, this small lack of focus reminded me today the importance of focusing in leadership.
In Matthew 14, Peter lost focus for a split second, looked at the storm instead of Jesus, and failed at what he set out to accomplish. Let us be leaders that are set apart from the rest why we “fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2, NIV).
Imagine the impact we would have in our businesses, churches, and schools if we learned from my mishap at the gym and Peter’s lack of focus. RATHER LET US FIX OUR EYES ON JESUS FOR DIRECTION, VISION, AND WISDOM.
